Fresh as a daisy
How gorgeous is this spring look seen backstage in Paris at the Alexis Mabille show? The ultra-natural healthy glow probably took some time to achieve, even on model-perfect skin, but it's the upbeat turquoise nails that we're focusing on. A low-key nod to the ice-cream colours seen on this season's catwalks without going head-to-toe Neapolitan. Sherbet nail shades provide an instant pick-me-up that won't break the bank – daisies optional. I Can't Live Without ...

Skincare regime: I inherited my love of Lancôme from my mum and I never stray from cleansing and toning using Galatéis Douceur cleanser and toner. I now use Visionnaire serum at night and Genifique Youth Activating serum every morning, aided by Primordiale day and night cream. Skincare is definitely worth the investment – a good regime and choice of products really stands to me.
The countryside: Visits home to Tipperary are what make my week. I love the travel aspect to my job, but as they say “there’s no place like home”.
I’ll admit to being totally spoiled by my family and friends – whether relaxing at home or heading out for a meal, the occasional spot of shopping or just enjoying long Sunday walks in the countryside with our beloved bichon frise, Alfie.
It’s an absolute treat when I get to spend time with my little nephew Seán Maitiú – I can’t say I enjoy nappy changing but I certainly enjoy spending time with him.
Haircare by Shu Uemura Art of Hair: I haven’t been handed the best hair in the world and after years of unhappiness, I’ve found a range of haircare products that totally transforms my hair. I swear by
Shu Uemura Silk Bloom shampoo and conditioner.
Lip balm: I’m a Kiehl’s lip balm addict – I won’t leave the house without it, no matter what the handbag or the occasion.
Laughter: For me the old saying laughter is a great medicine, is so true. I’m a real believer in taking time to leave stress behind and enjoy a good laugh.
Tonight Josephine
Roger & Gallet is marking its 150 anniversary with a trio of limited-edition Emperor’s Flasks referencing the original design they created for Napoleon. Aware of his love of eau de cologne, Empress Josephine requested a bespoke flacon which could be slid into his boot, enabling her husband to freshen-up at any given moment. Emperor’s Flasks (€41) are available at selected pharmacies.
Bristol fashion
When Pippa Middleton was seen carrying the Bristol bag by Modalu, igniting a buying frenzy for this practical, no-nonsense bag, it was renamed the Pippa. It has two pockets at the front, one big one at the back and many more inside, where its shell-printed lining is a feature.
There’s space for an iPad, Bblackberry, sunglasses and keys, which makes it useful, though the only problem is remembering in which pocket you put your lipstick, cash or whatever. Branches of Kilkenny have it in a toffee colour like this one, and in other colours, for €219.95.
Leather weather
The talented Una Burke, whose leather and brass-studded creations famously attracted the interest of Lady Gaga, has just shown her new collection in Paris, with a lot more colour and wearability. For instance there’s this tiara-type headpiece made from leather, and this handcut bow-shaped belt with spiky detail. Her idea was to show how her pieces could be worn in an everyday, but yet dramatic way. Available in stores from July.
Hats off
Her shapes have been compared to those of Frank Gehry and if you watch a YouTube video of the extraordinary Krisztina Reisini manipulating the wide brim of a straw hat, you can see why. The ultra-stylish Milan-based, Hungarian-born milliner has a growing fan base around the world for her head-turning chapeaux. Her latest collection of captivating straw hats trimmed with grosgrain, or this little pull-on, called Enya, in the brightest colours of luxury felt fur, always have a new twist. There’s even what she calls her Air Bag, a cheeky, inflated affair that young New Yorkers adore. Her fanbase has spread to Ireland; one Dubliner was so besotted she ordered four from her winter collection. See kreisicouture.com
