This week, we meet student Dylan Kerr. Dylan’s style is so inspiring; he is constantly pushing the boundaries and wears whatever he wants. This requires a confidence and an artistic eye that I have long admired. He challenges everything you think about silhouettes and clashing patterns. I was so happy to get the chance to see exactly what it takes to bring together a look this brilliant.

Tell us about your outfit today?

Zebra vest from Enable Ireland (€1) over striped vest from Dublin flea (€3). I enjoy wearing them together because I like to layer patterns that result in an ensemble which is painful to look at. Linen pants from Irish Cancer Society (€1.50). These pants are perfect for summer because they are so light. Platform boots New Rock (€100). I love a good intimidating shoe which makes noise when you walk down the street. The metal on the sides makes a great noise when my feet click together.

Socks: Calvin Klein (€4). Socks are so underrated.

Collar: Ripped off one of my grandmother's handbags. Chains are always a good option.

Esso bag: Found in my grandmother's house. This bag is great because it fits my whole life in it.

Nails by Lindsay at Tropical Popical (South William Street Dublin 2): I like everything to be as tacky as possible.

How would you describe your personal style?

My style constantly changes. At the moment I feel as if my current look is “middle-aged housewife goes to Lanzarote with the girls from book club”, so lots of souvenir T-shirts and breezy trousers, and the definitive garment of this look is my orange string vest emblazoned with a diamanté palm tree.

What are you most looking forward to this summer?

I am doing a summer course in NCAD in printed textiles soon and I am really looking forward to starting that.
