Sancerre Domaine Fleuriet & Fils 2007, 12.5%, €12.95A very attractive Sancerre, at a very competitive price, with zesty lean green fruits and a mouth-watering citrus bite. Probably better with food; seafood or lighter salads would be perfect. Stockist: From Vineyards Direct
Madiran, Domaine du Moulié 2003, 12.5%, €10.75.Tucked away in the south-west of France, Madiran is one of the great unknown wine regions. The Tannat grape makes firm unyielding wines that usually require a few years' bottle-age. This example is now nicely mature, with rounded cool plum fruits and a good dry finish. Sauvignon Eric Montintin Vin de pays du Val de Loire 2007, 12%, €13.99. Montintin is a Sancerre producer, but this is made from vines outside the region. Fresh grassy aromas, crisp green fruits, and a snappy dry finish. Great everyday wine, solo or with fish. Stockist: WineOnline
Domaine de Millet Chardonnay/Sauvignon 2007 Vin de pays des Côtes de Gascogne, 12%, €10.90. Delightful fresh and fruity white, with really zingy green fruits, and a lovely crisp finish. A great all-rounder, worth considering for parties. Stockist:Wines Direct
