Catch French chanteuse Caroline Moreau and Russian gypsy maestro Oleg Ponomarev at the Pavilion Theatre, Dún Laoghaire, Co Dublin tonight at 8p.m. Also on the bill are Ariel Hernandez on guitar, Claire Crehan on piano and Nigel Clarke on guitar. Tickets €16/€12 concessions.

The lost boats of Baltimore are sailing again this weekend - you can see the restored fleet that fished the west Cork coast in the 19th century. The Baltimore Wooden Boat Festival (pictured above) provides access to these spectacular vessels, including the Hanora which was built in 1892 and is Queen of the Festival. The event is run in conjunction with the Baltimore Seafood Festival with smoked seafood, local cheeses and organic garden produce in abundance. MONDAY PravdaVision is the new cinema club showing classic movies in Pravda on Liffey Street Dublin every Monday. Today it is The Great Escape, with Steve McQueen, James Garner and a host of other screen legends in this glorious saga of a mass escape from a German prisoner of war camp. Doors 8pm sharp. Diehard Tolkien fans should note that the bar is showing not one, not two, but three Lord of the Rings movies next Bank Holiday Monday. Screening starts at 1pm and ends at 11.30pm. Admission is free, and so is the popcorn.

Not to be confused with the Tour de France, the Docklands City Cycle is a gentle summer evening pedal through a 10km traffic-free course around town, which begins on Mayor Street in the IFSC. Suitable for adults and children, the event launches Velo-City 2005 an annual conference being held in the capital this year. Contact www.docklandscitycycle.ie for information. 7.30pm.

WEDNESDAY The new Barabbas show tanks a lot! is running in Project before going on a national tour. Written and performed by Raymond Keane, it tells the story of Raymond Clown, who is going through a mid-life crisis and trying to reinvent his past, present and future. Critically-acclaimed Barabbas started life as a clowning theatre company, and the production marks a heart-warming return to this ethos. Tickets from Project, Temple Bar, Dublin.

Wristbands are all the rage in playgrounds across the country and the bright green one produced to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland is sure to be just as covetable as the rest. Available in child and adult sizes in Spar shops for €2 and from the Association on 01-4962433.

The Doonbeg International Jazz Festival in Co Clare starts today, heralding a weekend of swing, Dixie and all the rest, in Co Clare. Jam sessions, open-air jazz, barbecues with the Trier Rhythm and Swing band from Germany, the Lord Napier Jazz Band from England and the Shannon Swing Band from Athlone. All gigs are free.
