Sheridans Cheesemongers’ headquarters in Carnaross, Co Meath, for which it has received the Ellison award from An Taisce for its sympathetic restoration and conversion of the former Virginia Road railway station, is the venue for a foodie gathering next Sunday, May 29th.

The company’s Irish Food Festival has been heavily supported by cheese makers, as you’d expect, with the producers of Milleens, Coolea, Cashel Blue, Bellingham Blue, Corleggy, Glebe Brethan and Cooleeney all taking part. Kevin and Seamus Sheridan will be running cheese workshops, along with Sarah Grubb of Cashel Blue, Brigitta Curtin of Burren Smokehouse and Enrico Fantasia of Sheridans Wine. Cookery demos will be given by Pauric White, head chef at the Forge Restaurant next door to Sheridans. There will also be a barbecue manned by local farmer Jim Ryan, and plenty to keep children amused including face painting and a children’s food workshop. The fair will run from 11am to 6pm.
