The ever-increasing popularity of new housing developments close to railway stations should ensure the early sale of 55 ready-to-go housing sites at Bettystown, Co Meath.
DTZ Sherry FitzGerald Lannon is seeking in the region of £1.5 million for the land, which is about two miles from Laytown railway station.
The asking price equates to around £27,500 per unit and because planning permission is already available, the developer will not have to set aside part of the site for social or affordable housing.
The planning permission provides for 15 townhouses, eight three-bed semis and 16 duplex units over 16 apartments. The selling agents estimate that prices will range from £105,000 for 735 sq ft two-bedroom terraced houses up to £130,000 for 1,300 sq ft three-bedroom homes.
The homes are in an area that has seen considerable development in recent years, encouraged by seaside resort tax incentives. Bettystown has also got a high quality hotel and leisure centre. The availability of a top class links golf course in the area and the closeness to the Dublin-Belfast road has also helped sales. The Balbriggan bypass has shortened commuting time to the city.
