A parcel of 48 acres of development land for town centre, residential and leisure development at Bettystown, Co Meath, has been brought to the market by joint agents DTZ Sherry FitzGerald and Sullivan Estate agents.
The agents are quoting a guide price of around £150,000 per acre for the land in one of the most rapidly expanding commuter areas in the State. It is estimated 2,000 houses will be built in the area in the next few years.
The land, which is to be sold in one or more lots, consists of four acres zoned for residential use, two acres for recreational amenity and the remainder for "town centre" development. There is a 3,500 sq ft private residence with ancillary stables and out-buildings on the land.
It is being offered for sale by public tender with a closing date of June 30th.
Peter Lynch, of DTZ Sherry FitzGerald, pointed to the rapid expansion in the area in the past five years which is expected to gather even more pace with the improved access to Dublin from the opening of the Balbriggan bypass. The Laytown train station and the proposed park-and-ride service will be of great benefit to commuters. Recent successful developments in Bettystown include The Anchorage mixed residential and retail scheme and Betaghstown Wood, the low density scheme of detached three-bedroom and four-bed houses.
