£2.5m upgrade for Waterford retail centre

The Hypermarket Centre, Waterford, is to be upgraded and extended at a cost of £2

The Hypermarket Centre, Waterford, is to be upgraded and extended at a cost of £2.5 million to broaden its appeal to shoppers. It was opened in 1973 by L & N group and was taken over in 1998 by Caulfield's supermarkets, who run the SuperValu supermarket. An additional 30,000 sq ft of space is being added to the centre, which will in future be known as the Hyper Centre. A furniture store is to open on two levels and there will also be a garden centre and two more outlets. Caulfields is a family business with nine SuperValu outlets in the south-east and Cork.
