An Bord Pleanala has blocked a plan to provide 112 apartments at the rear of The Cloisters, Grace Park Road, Drumcondra, Dublin 9, saying the proposed scheme is "a substandard form of development by reason of poor layout and design". Dublin Corporation had previously granted permission to Ardmore Building Co to develop the apartments in eight three-storey blocks.
However, the planning appeals board criticised "the inadequate disposition and quality of useable open space which would result in an unacceptable loss of residential amenity for residents of the proposed development". It also said that because of the height and layout, the scheme would give rise to "overlooking" - which would seriously injure property amenities in the area.
