WHILE THE REST of the rooms at 334 Clontarf Road have a mix of classic and contemporary, the main bedroom is influenced by the antique mahogany inlaid settee which was a present from a family member and steers more towards the classic.

The imposing cherrywood bed is part of the Louis Phillipe bedroom range of furniture from Classic Furniture (01-8484544 or www.classicfurniture.ie). A 5ft version costs €1,948 while the 6ft is €2,159. The rest of the furniture is also from the range, including the night stands, which cost €499 each, and the chest of drawers, which comes in a five-drawer version, at €1,593, and a seven-drawer version for €1,678.

The room is kept uncluttered and given a subtle lift of colour with the green Kayleigh cushions from Laura Ashley (01-8850420) and matching bedspread, €350. The room is kept fresh, light and airy with Dulux Creme Brulée on the walls and crisp white bedcovers from the Twiggy collection at Dunnes Stores. The window is curtain-free to make the most of the sea view.
