Co Clare: from €500,000: A second phase has just been announced at Doonbeg, a luxury golf resort on the County Clare coast near Kilkee.
Ennis agency Property Partners Philip O'Reilly is taking bookings and arranging viewings for a group of courtyard apartment suites at Doonbeg, which was voted "Best New International Course" by Golf Digest in 2002. The new course with its clubhouse and rustic-style residences is literally across the road from a beach.
These apartments qualify for tax relief on rental income. Eighteen one, two, three and four-bedroom own-door apartment suites are on offer, all spacious and well-fitted. Prices range from €500,000 for 112 sq m (1,200 sq ft) one-bedroom apartments to €1.2 million for four-bedroom apartments of 219 sq m (2,200 sq ft).
This is a project by the owners of Kiawah Island golf resort in the US and interiors are up to the same luxury specification. Stone and wood floors are heavily waxed, large casement windows frame views in all directions, bedrooms come plushly carpeted and timber mantlepieces are designed in old Irish style.
Gas fires are fitted in sittingrooms. SieMatic kitchens have a full range of appliances and bathrooms are tiled in honed marble. Ownership at Doonbeg does not include golf membership, which costs an additional €35,000. However, there is a separate residents' lounge and owners can use the restaurant and spa at the clubhouse and pay green fees if they prefer.
