Belfast-based Hackett Hall McKnight is on the six-strong shortlist for the Building Design Young Architect of the Year. The winner will be announced tonight in London (where most of the shortlisted practices are based).
The competition is open to architects under 40 in the UK and Ireland.
Architecture 53 Seven, based in Portlaoise, made the 25-practice long list.
The competition, sponsored by Autodesk - and judged this year by Glenn Howells, Deyan Sudjic, Will Alsop, David Partridge, Liza Fior, Pete Baxter, Amanda Baillieu and Ellis Woodman - is designed to recognise young talent and help architects get greater recognition.
That certainly happened to Irish architect Tom de Paor after he won in 2003.
