Dublin Corporation has granted 10-year planning permission for a high density housing scheme at Pelletstown, between Finglas and Ashtown in north Dublin. Sean Mulryan's company, Ballymore Properties, has secured approval for 547 apartments and townhouses, a leisure centre, creche and retail centre. In the same area Castlethorn Developments has got permission to build 593 houses, duplexes and apartments as well as a creche, community facility, leisure centre and two retail units.

The entire site of over 100 acres along the Tolka river has been designated by Dublin Corporation as a demonstration project for higher housing densities. It is the last remaining tract of agricultural land in Dublin city, wedged between the the Tolka and the Royal Canal.
