Boots is to open a major pharmacy fronting on to both Cruises Street and William Street in Limerick. The company is taking Cassidy's Chemist and an adjoining building, which was recently acquired by Cassidy. Boots will be paying a rent in excess of £150,000 for the store, which will have a ground floor area of over 4,000 square feet. The upper floors may also be used for retail purposes. Boots have also paid an undisclosed figure for the goodwill of the chemist business. Fintan Tierney of Lambert Smith Hampton, who represents Boots, could not confirm the deal. Cassidys plans to continue trading from its pharmacies at Dooradoyle, Limerick and O'Connell Street, Ennis.
Meanwhile, fashion retailer Vero Moda has taken the former Saxone shop in the Crescent Shopping Centre, Limerick. The 1,500-square-foot unit is rented at £36,000. Lisney acted for the previous occupiers. College Properties advised Vero Moda.
