Brisk house sales reported in expanding commuter belt

WITH the autumn selling season now moving into full swing, early launches have been particularly successful

WITH the autumn selling season now moving into full swing, early launches have been particularly successful. Last weekend, Leixlip-based agents Leahy Property Consultants had strong sales at two developments aimed at different ends of the market. In Lucan, 21 of the 26 four-bedroom semis and detached units released at Mount Andrew sold at prices from £150,000 to £215,000. MW Homes netted over £4 million from the launch and will be taking bookings this weekend for the four remaining homes.

The ever-expanding Dublin commuter belt was again in evidence when 13 of the 18 three-bedroom houses beside Athy railway station sold at prices from £89,950. This weekend Gerry Leahy will be offering the remaining five three-bedroom houses for sale, along with two four-bedroom detached homes at £118,950 and two four-bedroom detached bungalows at £120,000.

In west Dublin, O'Mahony Auctioneers sold all 13 houses off the plans in the Mulberry Court scheme at Carpenterstown Road. The two-bedroom back-to-back units fetched £139,500 and were mostly bought by single people. Martin O'Mahony is keeping a waiting list in the event of any of the buyers opting out.
