Ballyrory, a farm on 234 acres on the road between Tinahely, Co Wicklow, and Gorey, Co Wexford, is to be sold in one or more lots at auction on August 24th through Warren Estates. It has a guide price of £750,000-plus. The farmhouse, which is in need of total refurbishment, was built at the turn of the century, and retains a number of period features. It has three bedrooms, a sitting-room with a cast-iron fireplace, kitchen with a solid-fuel cooker, and a dining-room. Two of the bedrooms have pine ceilings. There is also a two-room annexe.
The owner of the farm is retiring, and the agent believes the property has potential for a number of uses. About 130 acres of the land is parkland and of the remaining land, about 40 acres needs to be reclaimed. The property, which is not far from Coollattin Estate, also has commercial possibilities, dependent on planning permission - the parkland would make a good golf course, for example, says the agent. Ballyrory, about eight miles west of Gorey, Co Wexford, is about 11 miles from the sea.
