A Dublin family with long associations in the property game hit the jackpot again this week when it sold an apartment site on Sandymount Avenue in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, for no less than £4.2 million. That works at a huge £262,000 for each of the 16 apartment sites. The successful bid after the DTZ Sherry FitzGerald auction came from none other than housebuilder Eugene Larkin who spends his spare time up in the clouds over Dublin piloting his own helicopter. Eugene scored a notable success over the past few years with a large housing developing on the edge of Hollystown golf course and a housing development overlooking the Phoenix Park. Since then he pulled off a great coup by getting planning permission for 2,119 houses at Tyrrellstown. And just to get things moving he sold 600 sites to McInerneys for a reported £18 million.
