IT'S D-day tomorrow for Ray Grehan's One Ballsbridge scheme at the former UCD Veterinary College site in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.

City manager John Tierney is due to decide the fate of Grehan's 15-storey mixed-use office and residential development by 4pm tomorrow.

Grehan is looking to build a 40,000sq m (430,000sq ft) development with 109 apartments at the prime site which is beside Seán Dunne's Jurys and Berkeley Court site.

Grehan purchased the site from the OPW for a knockout €171.5 million in 2005.

The scheme has prompted much debate since it was unveiled last August. Some 85 objections have been received by the council.

Among the objectors are Sandymount Avenue Residents Association, Shrewsbury Park Management Ltd, the Irish Georgian Society and Lucinda Creighton TD.

An Taisce said that Ballsbridge does not have the infrastructure to cope with development of the scale envisaged and warned that the proposed scheme would not be in character with the area.

Will Tierney agree? All will be revealed tomorrow afternoon.

Not one to hang around, Grehan has started the sales pitch already on Glenkerrin's website.

"This new class of development will eclipse any other development ever witnessed before in Ireland," according to website. You have been warned.
