A residents' association has blocked McDonald's Restaurants from opening a fast-food outlet in its area. Watson Killiney Residents' Association had appealed against a decision by D·n Laoghaire-Rathdown Co Council granting permission for the free-standing, drive-through restaurant at Ballybrack Shopping Centre.

An Bord Pleanβla overruled the decision, holding that the restautant would seriously injure the amenities of the adjoining properties and would cause an unacceptable increase in traffic in the area."
