A spacious mid-19th century two-storey over garden level house at 17 Wellington Place in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 is to be auctioned by Lisney on May 23rd. The impressive period property was the home of former President, Mary Robinson from the 1970s to the early 1980s.

The guide price for this house is £900,000 (€1.14m) and according to selling agent Denis Beare, new owners will almost certainly do some updating and redecoration. The property retains many period features, including ornate ceiling cornice work, period marble chimney pieces, hardwood doors and large sash windows.

The panelled front door has a fanlight window and leads into a reception hall with decorative cornice work and an archway to an inner hall.

The drawingroom has a period marble chimney piece and a window overlooking the front garden. Carved timber panel folding doors lead to the diningroom.

There is separate access to the garden level, which has an entrance lobby with a quarry tiled floor and a glass panelled door which opens to the kitchen/breakfastroom with fitted pine units.
