The Government banned new bedsits back in 2009 but those landlords who already let out bedsits were given a four-year window in which to upgrade them to include their own bathrooms as well as other facilities.
Failure to comply will result in fines and prosecutions so it’s no surprise that the Garda Recreation Club on Harrington Street has sought to convert its existing bedsits into apartments.
The club wants to redevelop the bedsits into three one-bed apartments and one two-bed, providing a handy base, we assume, for those stumbling to bed after a trip to Copper Face Jacks on Harcourt Street.
