Property developer David Arnold has lined up a strong group of tenants for the neighbourhood shopping centre he is building at the junction of Cabra Road and Navan Road in Dublin 7. Work on the 25,000 sq ft complex is already under way and the first traders will begin fitting out next September. It is understood that the main unit of 6,000 sq ft will be occupied by Iceland; McDonalds fast food chain is to take 5,000 sq ft; Xtravision will have 3,000 sq ft; Spar will operate a 2,000 sq ft convenience store. Some of units will have a mezzanine level. Larry Brennan of Hamilton Osborne King, who is handling lettings, says they still have 5,500 sq ft which can be divided into two or three units. These would be ideal for an off-licence business, pharmacy and hair salon. The 1.6-acre site was acquired from Dublin Corporation about 18 months ago for around £800,000. Last month, an Irish company paid over £9 million for an adjoining site of seven acres.
