Seating to settle into

HEDGEROE (hedgeroe.com; 01-2948932), on the Enniskerry Road, in Kilternan, Dublin 18, has some very smart sofas and benches in painted finishes that will work equally well in hallways, bedrooms and reception rooms. Its Osier sofa, available in black or shell white, is reduced by 38 per cent from €1,295 to €800. The Star bench, in black, shell white and a neutral called new linen, is reduced by 17 per cent from €645 to €539. There’s also a Hawthorn coffee table, that comes with two removable trays, down from €445 to €349.

NOTHING SAYS summer quite like dining al fresco and Meadows and Byrne (meadowsandbyrne.ie, 01-8291692) has some great value in wine glasses. A set of six large goblets with sturdy bases, perfect for posh picnics, are down by 23 per cent from €27 to €20.75.

Indoors, add a pop of colour to the kitchen with a memo board that has a traffic scene with magnetic cars, down from €29 to €14.95. A Manhattan skyline design with magnetic photo frames, so you can travel with the people in your life is reduced from €15 to €9.95. Or give your bedroom a summertime makeover with this Silhouette alarm clock, reduced from €15 to €9.95.

Murphy Sheehy shuts its doors in Dún Laoghaire

MURPHY SHEEHY Interiors (murphysheehy.com; 01-2020642), on 3 Corrig Avenue, Dún Laoghaire, will be closing its doors on Saturday May 28th and taking the business to its Castle Market store ( 01-6770316) in Dublin 2. There’s a massive relocation sale. For example, the Babushka doll soft furnishing fabric is reduced from €34 per metre to €15. Arabesque painted silk is down from €54 to €19 per metre. Oil cloths that were €15 per metre are now €8.50. There’s a small selection of Liberty prints also reduced, including a lawn cotton, from €17.50 to €15 per metre. Its full interiors and curtain-making services will be available in the city centre shop and there is 20 per cent off all curtain linings, interlining and blackout lining until May 28th.

The sale is also on in the Castle Market store.

Tread these boards for 30% less:

FINEST TIMBERS (01-2122976) at 52 Upper George’s Street in Dún Laoghaire is offering Bargain Hunter readers who present a copy of today’s Irish Times the chance to buy its three different types of decking – softwood, hardwood and composite – at 30 per cent off. Decks are purpose-built and so not priced by the sq m, but with a supplied and fitted price. So, for example, the 10sq ft deck pictured normally costs €1,000 if you choose softwood , €1,700 for hardwood and €2,200 for the composite option. Less 30 per cent, it is €700, €1,190 and €1,540 respectively.

A Main floor lamp with an orange shade is down 40 per cent from its original price of €429 to €299.

And anyone looking for smart storage should check out the Volani sideboard. This walnut veneer piece, which is 2.05 metres long, has been reduced from €1,399 to €499.
