There is currently a very strong demand for new two- and three-bedroom houses in the £110,000 to £150,000 bracket. There are huge numbers of first-time buyers in the market for both houses and apartments, but because of the shortage of units, a lot of them are having to settle for towns within commuting distance of Dublin. Four-bedroom semis costing from £150,000 to £170,000 in the outer suburbs are selling well in areas like Lucan, but houses priced over that figure are in less demand. There have been a significant number of enquiries for new houses costing £250,000 to £600,000 on infill sites in mature Dublin suburbs. Most of the enquiries are coming from local families and executives returning from abroad to take up employment here.

Two-bedroom apartments in the £140,000 to £200,000 price range are also in strong demand, whereas three-bedroom apartments are not selling quite as well.
