SalesResults: Businessman Niall O'Farrell who owns the Black Tie chain of dress shops has paid over €7.5 million for a modern detached house on Shrewsbury Road in Ballsbridge.
Number 28, a modest three-storey house close to the junction with Ailesbury Road, was built by Harry Crosbie and was most recently owned by a member of the McCormack family who are heavily involved in both the commercial and residential property markets in Dublin.
The sale was handled by Sherry FitzGerald though yesterday director Simon Ensor, a specialist in off-market sales, refused to comment on the price.
It's thought that Mr O'Farrell intends to demolish the house and possibly replace it with two semi-detached houses. He already owns a house on the road which he built on a site he bought from the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland in 1998. He divided the site in two, selling part of it to property developer Sean Dunne who also built a house there for himself.
