PORTUGAL:THE FINAL phase of a development near Cabanas de Tavira, a fishing village in the eastern Algarve, goes on sale in the Westbury Hotel, Dublin 2, on Friday and Saturday, May 16th and 17th.
Over 180 of the 252 units to be built in O Pomar (Portuguese for orchard) have been reserved. They are for sale through Splash International Properties in Dublin.
The remaining 70 or so apartments and townhouses - which range in size from 84.55-170.58sq m (910-1,836sq ft) with 8.13-151.38sq m (87-1,629sq ft) terraces - go on sale from €225,000 for a two-bed apartment and from €380,000 for a three-bed townhouse. Developer Newlyn is offering to arrange mortgages of up to 85 per cent with a five-year interest-only option.
O Pomar will be a village-style scheme quite different from both the lush gated villa complexes and apartment blocks to be found in the area. The development will have a central plaza with shops and cafés and convenience stores, children's play areas and a number of communal but no individual swimming pools. It is about half a mile to the Cabanas' seafront, and five minutes to the old town of Tavira.
