ShopFront: A number of lighting pieces have been added to the popular crystal collection that Louise Kennedy designs for Tipperary Crystal - and they're out this month. Visit Kennedy's Merrion Square home-cum-store to view the chandeliers, available at Brown Thomas and other department stores in the next week or two.
There are two different-sized chandeliers (€7,500 or €15,000) and two table lamps (from €800). It's the chandeliers - 1930s inspired, but not a straight reproduction of the period - we really love. They look modern but at the same time not necessarily "new" - more like something that was ripped from a grand European hotel or that might have been found in a Left Bank antique store.
The pieces of crystal are great solid blocks, big and bold, not the bitty, overly fine pieces you usually see, which adds to the reflective drama of mirror and crystal.
They would probably work in almost any architectural style, providing a good contrast to a corniced ceiling or add interest to a modern shell.
