One of the largest single housing developments to be lodged with a local authority in recent years has come before South Dublin County Council. Ellier Developments Ltd, with an address at Woodstown Centre, Knocklyon, Dublin 16, has submitted an environmental impact assessment with its request for permission for 655 homes on a 44.5 acre site in the Tallaght area.
The development is on a site bounded by the Ballycullen Road to the east, the Daletree Road to the west, the Oldcourt Road to the south and the Rathylon Estate to the north, at Ballycullen.
Envisaged are a number of different house types and styles from the standard three bedroom homes to three and fourstorey houses largely in three bedroom layouts. 130 duplex apartments and some two, three and four storey apartment blocks are also included.
Some of the larger homes will have an integral garage, and building styles will be traditional semis and detached houses and terraces.
Unusually the development is promising a 150 sq m creche at ground floor level. Also proposed are a total of 1,181 car-parking spaces; associated landscaping and the construction of an east/west distributor road in accordance with the Ballycullen-Oldcourt Road Area Action Plan. It links Ballycullen Road with Old Court Road. The application also proposed to upgrade part of Ballycullen Road adjacent to the site and provide 6.2 acres of open space.
