One of Dublin's largest housebuilding firms, Menolly Properties, has bought another development site at at Celbridge, Co Kildare, where it plans to have showhouses ready for opening in six weeks.
The company has paid around £7 million - the equivalent of £45,000 per unit - for 169 sites along a new relief road which will be completed shortly. The vendors have already paid local authority fees of £3,000 per site. Menolly is likely to offer three-bedroom houses at £120,000 and four-bedroom units at £130,000.
The Ross McParland agency looks after house sales for Menolly. Garvan Walsh of Gunne handled the sale of the Celbridge site. Menolly has probably set a record by building and selling some 850 houses in about 18 months off the Navan Road, near the Dublin-Meath border.
