A new price level for housing land in north Kildare was set last week when a housebuilder paid £2.62 million for 10.5 acres about half a mile from Celbridge. The price works out at almost £250,000 per acre, or £35,600 per site if the planners stick to their guideline of allowing seven houses per acre. Bidding at the Coonan auction opened at £1.5 million and with seven developers chasing the Simmonstown land, it was put on the market at £2.3 million.
