Waterside wonders: Old-world luxury in Sheen Falls for €1m

Two thatched, four-bed houses overlooking Kenmare Bay

These two houses lie in a private gated development of three houses, one of which has been sold, on the grounds of Sheen Falls Hotel in Kenmare.

They are part of the Sheen Falls Resort, purchased last year for €5 million by Palladian Hotels, and are being sold through estate agent Savills with an asking price of €1 million each. All the furniture is included in the sale and new owners have the benefit of a five-star hotel on their doorstep.

The exteriors have an old-world charm with thatched roofs and petite eyebrow windows, while the interiors suggest luxury and elegant opulence and are decorated to the highest of standards, Villa Rosa in a classical style while Villa Verde has a more contemporary design.

Both houses, at 520sqm (5,694sq ft) have identical floor space with layouts mirror images of each another.

Flooring is marble interspersed with solid oak and each of the reception rooms have French doors opening out on to cut limestone patios. A granite fireplace with recessed stove is the focal point of the livingroom and has clever wood storage at either side.

Diningroom ceilings soar to 6m and are overlooked by a mezzanine with an office space should new owners need to pull themselves from the views of Kenmare bay. The cream kitchens, in country style have solid cherry/pine and granite worktops with Miele and Siemens appliances and large free-standing Godin cookers.

There are two en-suite bedrooms on the ground floor both decorated with flair in neutral palettes. Two further en-suite bedrooms lie upstairs with the master having a walk-in wardrobe. Kenmare is a popular location for holiday homes and Villa Rosa or Villa Verde would make a fabulous choice with a plethora of amenities on the doorstep and panoramic views.
