Ocean Crest is a development of 28 four and five-bedroom houses being built to the south of Arklow town. Two earlier developments in the town, Knockmore and The Maples, are already well underway but Ocean Crest is the first development in the town at the more expensive end of the market.
There are two design types, a pavilion style house and dormer bungalow and sizes range from 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. Garden sizes vary too, from a fifth to one third of an acre.
Prices begin at £315,000 (€449963) for a bungalow to £370,000 (€528,528) for the largest of the dormers.
Work began in the early spring and is expected to be completed in the summer of next year, 2002. The developers are Arklow Homes, who are working with contractor Inbhear Mor Developments and the Arklow architectural company Meehan Levins Associates. Selling agents are Jackson Stops, Bray.
Both house designs have an open-plan reception hallway. The bungalow has seperate drawing and diningrooms with an open fireplace in the drawing room. The diningroom has double doors to the kitchen/breakfastroom which is, in effect, a large, open family room. On this floor too there is a utility room.
Bungalows have either four or five bedrooms, with two of these en suite, as well as a family bathroom. All have gardens to the front and rear and floor areas are from just under 2,000 to 2,200 sq ft.
Bungalow prices start at £315,000 (€449,963) and go up to £340,000 (€485,674) the variation depends on site, size and level of finish.
The dormer has a similarly large reception hall, this time with a guest toilet and gallery stairwell with studio landing. Architectural features on the ground-floor include a split-level design and a curved, glazed glass wall giving light between the hall and diningroom.
Three of the five bedrooms are en suite and there is also a family bathroom. Sizes are between 2,400 and 2,900 sq ft and they will be selling for £345,000, £360,000 and £370,000.
