Axton is a new development being built in the Ruzinov area of Bratislava, close to the old town.
One and two bedroom apartments ranging in size from 60 to 80 sq m (646 to 861 sq ft) cost from €93,000 to €105,000-plus. They do not have fitted kitchens, but come with tiled bathrooms and video security phones.
There is a good rental market in Bratislava, according to Pat Loftus of the Slovak Real Estate agency. Slovak bank managers and business people as well as the expat community will pay from €400 to €600 a month in rent.
There is no stamp duty payable in Slovakia, lawyer's fees are around €500 and there are no hidden charges, according to Loftus. Foreign investor mortgages with 4.5 per cent interest rates are available through banks like Bank Austria.

On Lazaretska Street near the city centre a 31 sq m (333 sq ft) flat completely renovated and furnished priced SKK1,750,000 (€45,500). Ready to rent at SKK13,125 (€337) per month giving owner 9 per cent return on rent. Tenant available. (Currently rented for six months from 1/04/05)
On Obchodna Street near the historic centre of the city a 23 sq m flat (247 sq ft) for SKK1.320,000 (€34,285) before renovation. Located on the second floor with a lift.
