It seems as if almost every semi-derelict district of New York is becoming increasingly gentrified these days.
Not so long ago the city was on the brink of bankruptcy with high rates of crime and homelessness but now some of the city's most notorious suburbs - including the much maligned Hell's Kitchen famed in the film Gangs of New York - are undergoing a building and refurbishment boom.
One such area is the DUMBO (down under the Manhattan bridge overpass) section of Brooklyn pictured right which is experiencing rapid gentrification.
If the trend continues, there won't be an authentic gangster film set to be had in the city.
