Dublin 14: €475,000 The seven detached bungalows which form a keyhole-like cul-de-sac on Westbrook Road, Dundrum, Dublin 14, were built in the mid-to- late 1940s.

Number 54 Westbrook Road, for sale through Lisneys with a guide price of €475,000, has three bedrooms, two reception rooms and well-tended landscaped gardens to front and back. It goes to auction on March 24th.

Number 54 has been refurbished in a style reminiscent of its time. The polished pine floors are original but the brass doorknobs have been added and older fireplaces put in place of the original tiled 1940s models.

The owners opted, too, for ornate wallpapers and have added picture rails in most rooms. The 98 sq m (1,060 sq ft) of floor space includes the converted garage and utility room.

The kitchen, which is to the rear, is hand-crafted in antique pine which originated in the beams of an old Odlums flour mill. Drawers and cupboards have wooden knobs, there is a half dresser and fitted bookshelves and a splashback of decorative blue tiles.

The period-style cast-iron fireplace has a tiled inset and gas-effect fire and the floor is of polished pine. A door and steps lead to the garage, where the floor has been tiled and a great deal of storage fitted by way of cupboards and presses.

A second door and steps lead to the good-sized utility room, which is fitted, tiled and plumbed. It has a door leading to the rear garden.

The drawing and diningrooms are to either side of the hallway. Both have windows overlooking the front garden and high mahogany fireplaces dating from the 1930s with inset tiles and slate hearths.

In both rooms there are also polished timber floorboards and picture rails. The diningroom has elaborate William Morris-style wallpaper while the drawingroom is painted a primrose colour.

In the main bedroom the wallpaper has a gentle, floral design, blending with the floral motif on the inset tiles on the cast-iron period fireplace. There is a picture rail and the window is to the front.

The second bedroom, which also has a picture rail and floral wallpaper, has a window overlooking the rear garden. The third and smallest bedroom has lemon-painted walls and a picture rail. A white-tiled family bathroom has decorative inset tiling and maple flooring. There is a bath with shower.

The sloping rear garden has been made into an outdoor living space. High old horse-chestnut trees give privacy, a patio runs along the house and side of the garden and steps lead down a lawn, pond and thriving shrubbery.

Two Barna sheds, one of them extra large, allow for storage and potting. The front garden has tenderly- cared for spring plants, a lawn and shrubbery. There is off-street parking.
