Smart composition on musical development near Thurles
Gerard and Jacqui Morrissey, project managers
What and where?
The house is in the development of Ardleigh in Two-Mile Borris, four miles from Thurles town and by the upcoming Dublin-Cork motorway (M8).
The original developers of Ardleigh set out to create country manor-style residences at the top end of the market.
Each house is named after a great composer: our house is called The Vivaldi.
Describe the house
The Vivaldi is a detached five-bed house that extends to over 269.4sq m (2,900sq ft) on a spacious half-acre site. It has many extras including a wild-Irish beech fully fitted kitchen, french oak wooden floors, Chinese slate floor tiles, large decking area and extensive landscaped gardens to mention some.
Why are you moving?
We have always had a longing to build our home from scratch and the circumstances are now right for us to take this project on.
What's the best thing about it?
The layout because it is so family-friendly. The family room is very cosy and has an open fire. This is where we spend most of our time.
The lounge is ideal for large gatherings due to its size and connection to the sunroom.
The back of the house leads onto the deck, which catches the sun from early afternoon to sunset. Upstairs is also very spacious and has a lovely bathroom.
And the neighbourhood?
Ardleigh comprises just 15 houses. The local village of Two-Mile Borris, which you can walk to via a footpath in about three minutes, has all of the facilities that a family requires, including school, shops, pubs and so on.
If your children go to secondary school, they can get the bus that comes to the village.
Who would like your home?
It would be perfectly suited to a family with children given its size and extensive gardens.
It is also ideal for commuters - there is a train services to the major cities from Thurles and there will be the new M8 Dublin to Cork motorway.
