Amanda Murray, lighting designer, and Patrick Collins, consultant are selling their Glasthule three-bed for €850,000.
What and where
It is in Summerhill Court in Glasthule which is a development of just four houses located off the main road in what used to be the apple orchard of an old house, now a doctors' clinic.
Describe the house
Our house is described as a three-bedroom house, however we have used the rooms to suit our lifestyle. The single room has become our study as we both work from home on occasion and the second double bedroom, which is downstairs, is used as our diningroom. Our main bedroom takes up the entire upstairs of the house.
It has a walk-in wardrobe, storage space and views out across the sea to the Kish lighthouse.
We recently upgraded the bathroom and kitchen and, as I am involved in lighting design, we replaced all the lights, switches and added a number of extra sockets throughout the house which are always needed in homes.
We share a front garden space and have a lovely sunny rear garden which is low maintenance and has seen many a good barbecue.
Why are you moving?
I have lived here for 10 years (the house is 17 years old) and got married three years ago: my husband moved over from Germany. We are looking to expand as a family and need to have some extra space! We hope to stay within the area as we love living here and will be very sad to leave.
The best thing about it?
The house has fantastic light through it and we couldn't ask for better neighbours.
And the neighbourhood?
The Dart is a two-minute walk from our front door, Dún Laoghaire pier is a five-minute walk as is the Forty Foot in Sandycove. Being within walking distance of Dalkey, Sandycove and Dún Laoghaire means we have access to lots of restaurants, parks, schools, shops, a cinema, doctors and the water, for sailing or other water sports.Who'd like your home?
Our house would be perfect for older people who are looking to trade down into a safe and secure private location that has access to lots of facilities or it would suit a younger couple who are looking for ease of access to the city, along with a fantastic weekend option of activities.
