`Pleasant' Victorian bar in Ranelagh makes £2.2m

The Hill Bar at Old Mount Pleasant, Ranelagh, Dublin 6, has been sold at auction by John Younge for £2.2 million. In addition to the Victorian bar which had a turnover last year of £626,000, the property includes three studio apartments which could produce rental income of up to £35,000 per annum.

In the city centre, Christies estate agents secured £322,000 for J.J. Walsh's newsagents at 81 Thomas Street, Dublin 8. The four-storey building has around 2,000 sq ft of retail space.

Meanwhile, Lisney secured £1,075,000 for The Abbey, a period house, and an adjoining development site of three acres at Athy, Co Kildare. The Abbey has 12 principal rooms with an annexe containing six rooms.
