A subsidiary company of Cement Roadstone Holdings has secured £6.7 million (#8.5 million) for a commercial site of 7.8 acres at Kinsale Road, on the outskirts of Cork city. It was bought in trust by John Finnegan of Finnegan Menton. The site, which was used for decades by John A Woods as a pipe manufacturing plant, has access on to the old Kinsale Road and frontage on to the South Link Road.

The site was sold at a private auction conducted by Lisney and according to sources in Cork, less than half the ten interested parties bid because the planners have given no indication what they will allow on the site. The bidding opened at £5.5 million (#6.985 million) and the property was declared on the market at £6.7 million (#8.5 million), when it was knocked down to the eventual buyer.
