TWO adjoining parcels of 12.6 acres on the old Swords Road in Santry, Co Dublin, have been sold by tender through Hamilton Osborne King for a figure over £8 million. The first lot of 3.4 acres made in excess of £3 million while the 9.2 acres fetched in the region of £5 million. Rohan Holdings, which has already developed adjoining land bought the larger piece of land. The second piece was bought by an airport based owner-occupier. The land was sold on behalf of Sportslink, the Civil Service Union Sports Club. The price paid for the smaller lot, close to £1 million an acre, is a record for industrial land, according to Paul McNeive of HOK. The same agency has secured £3.65 million for the former Lightnin Mixers facility at Clonshaugh Industrial estate in north Dublin. The property comprises a building of 42,000 sq ft including 4,700 sq ft of offices. There is scope to develop an additional 50,000 sq ft building on the site. The purchaser was Worldwide Fibre Inc which is laying a fibre optic cable across the Atlantic into Ireland. It plans to spend over $80 million on developing the Clonshaugh into an international "telehotel" centre.
