British Land is about to seek planning permission to redevelop the first floor of The Swan Shopping Centre in Rathmines, Dublin 6, to accommodate seven cinemas. Agents Douglas Newman Good are understood to be in negotiations to lease the cinema to an Irish operator when the £2 million-plus development work is completed. A new entrance to the basement car park under the shopping centre is shortly to be provided off Rathmines Road. British Land is expected to offer the centre for sale when the work is completed. The rent roll from the centre currently is currently running at £900,000 per annum. A price over £15 million is likely to be sought for the centre which was bought by British Land in 1991. It also owns the St Stephen's Green Centre. Jones Lang Wootton will be joint selling agent for The Swan.
