Large detached houses in Durkan Residential's Silken Park development in Citywest have been designed with family living in mind.

The group of six houses form part of the larger Silken Park scheme, which first came up for sale this year.

Silken Park is off the Old Naas Road, Dublin 24, and is up the road from Durkan Residential's well-regarded Brown's Barn scheme. While the initial phase of two and three-bedroom houses was aimed at first-time buyers and young professionals, these houses, on Silken Park Lane, are pitched at young families. There is lots of space, plenty of storage and cleverly thought out living spaces.

A high standard fit-out completes the package. Prices start at €695,000 and selling agent Sherry FitzGerald will be taking bookings at a show unit on site this weekend.

Houses are laid out over three floors and five of the six houses measure 170sq m (1,830sq ft). Number 1 Silken Park Lane is slightly smaller with 150sq m (1,614sq ft) of space.

The houses are now complete and a stylish show unit designed by Axiom Designs of Sandyford will give buyers a flavour of what's on offer.

Off the large entrance hall there is a traditional sittingroom facing to the front of the house.

The main event is the massive living/kitchen/diningroom to the rear of the house.

The concept of open-plan kitchen/living areas is common in new homes these days but at this price level they are rarely so well thought out.

The kitchens in this phase have three distinct zones. An oversized square island unit dominates the area. It has a teak butcher-block worktop and plenty of storage space underneath.

Kitchen units are high-gloss and the countertops are an attractive cream Silestone. Integrated Neff appliances come as standard. To the left of the kitchen zone is the sitting area with an in-built Faber gas fireplace. The breakfast room juts out into the back garden and has glazing on three sides.

Sliding doors in the guest toilet conceal a mini utility room comprising a separate washing machine and tumble dryer and extensive shelving.

On the first floor there are three good-sized double bedrooms. Two have built-in wardrobes and one is en suite. The family bathroom, which features attractive tiling from Tile Style, completes the layout of this floor.

The entire top floor, except for a handy storage room, is devoted to the main bedroom. Inspired by boutique hotel rooms, it's a seriously glamorous affair with silver and white textured wall paper, lots of cut glass detailing and generous amounts of wardrobe space.

The en suite has two basins, smart brown tiling and a double-sized shower with chrome rainshower-effect showerhead.

Outside there is parking for two cars in the driveway and a decent rear garden laid out in lawn and patio.
