The Gunne agency is seeking about £150,000 for a three-bedroom terraced house at 70 Phillipsburgh Avenue, Fairview, Dublin 3, which is for sale by private treaty. Built in 1928, the house retains many of its original features, thanks to a careful restoration by its owner, the actor and singer Susie Kennedy. She bought the house 10 years ago and has restored the original floor boards, the panelled doors with their brass fittings, the original small-paned windows and picture rails throughout. Glass panelling in the front door throws light into a hallway, which has polished wood flooring, egg-and-dart moulding, a picture rail and under-stairs storage.

The front sittingroom, which has a bay window, is a period piece in itself with more egg-and-dart moulding, a centre rose, and a glass-fronted corner press.

The galley kitchen and dining/ family room are to the back, the latter looking on to the enclosed, cottage-style rear garden. The floor in the kitchen is of old quarry tiles and fitted presses at floor and wall level have wooden louvre doors.

In the good-sized, separate dining/family room, the paintwork is in yellow and blue with the yellow-painted picture window a centrepiece. The fireplaces here and in the sittingroom have beige tiles.

Upstairs, in the blue and white tiled bathroom, there are hand-painted Tunisian tiles, a bath with power-shower, wash-hand basin and small, paned window.

The separate lavatory has the original, elaborate brass fittings on the door and another small window. To the front of the house there are the main and box bedrooms, the former with an original cast-iron fireplace with flower motif. The third bedroom has another original built-in corner cupboard and a similar cast-iron fireplace.

Currently used for storage, the attic has a skylight window and would easily convert to living space. The rear garden has a block-built shed with electricity and plumbing for a washing machine. High hedging along the end gives privacy, as does wooden fencing along the side.
