SOUTH William Street in Dublin may well be in line for a new hotel following the sale of two adjoining buildings in the street for around £4 million. Michael Featherstone of the Clifton Court Hotel at Eden Quay, Dublin 1, has bought 52 and 53 South William Street for what is regarded as a particularly strong price for the street. The vendor, Jim Fergus, recently secured permission to move a seven day publican's licence from Meath Street to Number 52, a four-storey over basement Georgian building with a total of 5,880 sq ft. The adjoining building also stands four-storey over basement and is let on a mixture of short and long term leases. South William Street is rapidly becoming a popular location for restaurants. Dublin publican Paul Keaveney is shortly to open a new bar at 8/9 South William Street. Ben Pearson of Douglas Newman Good advised Mr Fergus on the sale of the two buildings.
