Glenageary: €950,000A family house in a quiet suburb has superb views, says Kate McMorrow
One doesn't usually associate panoramic sea views with Glenageary, yet this is the case with a four-bedroom semi-detached house on the market with Douglas Newman Good.
Silchester View, Upper Glenageary Road, Co Dublin is one of two houses built about eight years ago in the grounds of a period house which still stands. The 176 sq m (1,900 sq ft) house is expected to fetch around €950,000 when it goes under the hammer on February 24th. Apart from the sea view, strong selling points include its immaculate walk-in condition and 90ft back garden. A stained glass-panelled front door opens to a quarry-tiled hallway, off which is a guest toilet. Off to the left is a comfortable sittingroom with a period-style mahogany and tile fireplace and a ceiling rose. The kitchen/breakfastroom has a full range of appliances and views across the back garden to the rooftops of lower Glenageary and the sea.
This room connects with a quarry-tiled dining area, also with views of the bay. Sliding doors open from here to a large heated conservatory with French doors to the garden.
Upstairs, there is access from the landing to a floored and wired attic. Three of the four bedrooms are at this level, all with wardrobes and with an en suite shower room off the largest room. The family bathroom is also off this landing.
A second floor bedroom under the eaves also has built-in wardrobes. The gardens are well-stocked and tended. At the front is a broad cobblelock driveway bounded by a variety of evergreen and deciduous shrubs. Behind the house there is a lawn, gravelled areas and myriad flowering shrubs, with a flagstone terrace at the sunny end. A Barna shed at the side of the house has a full power supply.
