Dublin 17: from €290,000:Malahide Road in Dublin 17 is undergoing a transformation with the ongoing Northern Cross development, where the new Hilton Airport Hotel forms a focal point of a new modern suburb.
Residential units have their entrance on Malahide Road, while an office park is taking shape behind the hotel on part of the land stretching to Bewleys Hotel. Smart retail outlets and coffee houses, such as Meadows and Byrne, Fresh and Insomnia café, have opened for business, and convenience to Dublin Airport is attracting interest in the location.
Over 300 residential units have been sold to date at this ambitious €450 million project, with first-time buyers leading the chase. Around 200 owners have moved into their apartments and the area is acquiring a settled look. Hooke & MacDonald is releasing a further 40 apartments today, coinciding with the opening of new show units and an information suite.
Burnell Court is the name of this residential phase at Northern Cross. Prices start at €290,000 for one-bed apartments of 47sq m (505sq ft). Two-beds of 65-80sq m (699-860sq ft) cost from €365,000. Good-sized three-bedroom units of 92sq m (989sq ft) are from €415,000. Two-beds are in the majority, with just a few one and three-bedroom apartments for sale in this phase.
The apartments were designed by James Smyth Architects to maximise natural light and many units are dual aspect. Some of the balconies look out over a landscaped internal courtyard or a park. Roof gardens are provided at various locations. Bedrooms with en suites, contemporary bathrooms and high gloss kitchens with walnut-look worktops are part of the package. Also included in the sale are kitchen appliances, with a ceramic hob, extractor hood, integrated fridge-freezer and washer-dryer installed.
One free car-parking space is included free of charge with each apartment.
Completions in the latest phase at Northern Cross are scheduled from the end of this year to early 2008. The entire development is expected to be finished towards the end of 2008.
