Dublin 8/from €290,000: Apartments in South Gate, a development with Section 23 tax relief, go on view this weekend at Cork Street, Dublin 8. The selling agent is GPK, which will be taking bookings at show units over the weekend.

Prices start at €290,000 for one-bedroom units of 46.4 sq m (500 sq ft). Two-bedroom apartments of 64.6 sq m (696 sq ft) start at €350,000. All have balconies, are bright and have a high standard of finish. So far, 60 units have been sold from plans, so there are 70 left to sell this weekend.

The tax break is 70 per cent and provides for investor relief on all rental income here. Owner-occupiers can claim relief on all income, including PAYE over a 10-year period. Apartments so close to the city centre are at a premium, so interest should be strong.

There are 130 apartments in total in this scheme, spread over five low-level blocks which will include shops at ground floor level. A crèche is also provided for. Interior fittings include contemporary ivory-painted kitchens with appliances, neutral wall tiling in kitchens and bathrooms, and wardrobes in all bedrooms. There are balconies and a landscaped central plaza which includes a play area for children.

Parking spaces cost €25,000. The development lies on one of the ancient routes into the city and was the location of a gate tower, hence the name South Gate. The Cork Street area is ear-marked for regeneration.
