One of the first major new housing developments of the new season goes on sale on Saturday next at Swords, Co Dublin.
A total of 51 three and four-bedroom houses will be on offer at Swords Demesne, priced from £152,500 for the least expensive three-bedroom semi-detached unit.
Houses in this first phase will be ready by next autumn, according to the selling agents, Hamilton Osborne King.
The site is about one mile from Swords, at the junction of Glen Ellen and Rathbeale Roads.
In the first phase, there are 46 three-bed semis priced from £152,500 and 12 four-bedroom semis from £169,250. One 1,300 sq. ft four-bed detached house costs £225,000.
The three-bedroom houses of 1,020 sq. ft to 1,070 sq. ft range from £152,500 for the basic house with a north-facing garden, to £160,000 for those with the choicest positions. They all have a large bay-windowed sitting-room with double doors leading to an open-plan kitchen/ dining-room. Kitchen cupboards are a traditional oak-style and there is a plumbed utility room, which can be converted to a downstairs lavatory for an extra £1,000. Attractive stone and cast-iron fireplaces in the sitting-rooms are standard.
Upstairs, the main bedroom has a small en suite shower and wardrobes. A second bedroom is a large single room which could just fit a double bed and the third room is a single. The main bathroom is roomy and includes a large airing cupboard.
