Buyers looking around for a country town within relatively easy commuting distance of Dublin will beat a path to a new development in Blessington, Co Wicklow, due to launch its second and final phase this weekend through Leahy Property Consultants.

At Blessington Abbey, 36 three and four-bedroom houses will be on offer, starting at £171,950 (€218.330). This buys a three-bedroom semi of 1,150 sq ft with an extended kitchen/breakfastroom. The traditional layout includes a sittingroom with doors to a diningroom, which in turn links with the kitchen/breakfastroom at the back. The largest of the three bedrooms is en suite. Fourteen of this type are available for sale.

Four-bedroom semi-detached houses have 1,314 sq ft of accommodation and cost from £187,950 (€238.650). This house-type has a large sittingroom with doors to a diningroom. The extended kitchen/breakfastroom has a utility room off. Leahy Property Consultants will be selling 18 of these on Saturday.

Largest of the three designs at Blessington Abbey is a 1,467 sq ft four-bedroom detached house, costing from £220,000 (€279,340). An integral garage in this house has been converted to a third reception room. There are just four of this house-type on offer.

The house exteriors are three-quarters brick, with oriel bay windows. Standard features include gas central heating, attractive fireplaces and upstairs floors are tongued and grooved.

The development of 142 houses is located on a raised site a short walk from the centre of Blessington.

The first phase sold out within three weeks when launched last March. The 36 houses for sale this weekend will be ready to move into between December 2001 and March 2002.

Blessington remains a pretty country town, set in the midst of breathtaking countryside, yet within comfortable commuting distance of Dublin's south-western outskirts. To access the site, travel through the village centre and Blessington Abbey is a short distance on the right.

Builder Aranbel Construction has furnished a "show village", with all five house designs in the development open for viewing.
