Number 15 Shandon Park, Phibsborough, Dublin 7, is a mid-terrace redbrick house built in the 1930s which has been completely restored throughout.

Shandon Park is a quiet, tree-lined road convenient to Phibsborough village. The owners of number 15 both work in the design field. They bought their three-bedroom home four years ago and undertook a remodelling of the interior and exterior which drew on their own obvious taste and style.

The refurbishment included cleaning and exposing the original pine floors, converting the south-facing kitchen and diningroom into one sunny area which opens up the back of the house, generally retaining its Edwardian character when choosing furniture and fittings, and bringing a neglected back garden beautifully back to life. The period hall door, with a stained glass inset, opens on to a hall with pine flooring. The front-facing livingroom has a wonderful old fireplace with sweet-pea tiled inset and carved mantel. There is a coal effect gas fire. Open wall shelving with floor cupboards on either side of the fireplace are painted white. The attractive period window is dressed with dusky pink curtains which are included in the sale, as are all drapes.

The galley kitchen is well equipped with wall and floor cupboards. Another period fireplace in the dining area has a white mantelpiece, mirror, and large pine presses built in on either side. There is access to the garden from both kitchen and diningroom.

Upstairs, a period door with stained glass panelling leads into the bathroom. The suite is white, and includes a Triton shower in the bath, and a shell-style pedestal wash-hand basin. There is a heated towel rail.

The main bedroom has mid blue walls and deep blue curtains with a gold design. Fitted louvred wardrobes are painted white. The guest room has terracotta walls and a beige carpet, with curtains that pick up these earthy colours. There is a third smaller bedroom with an attractive low window sill.

The front garden has its original red-tiled front path and a thoroughly modern garden of orange pebbles, and shrubs. In the rear, a flagstone patio overlooks a most attractive lawn, which wanders through a profusion of flowers and shrubs. A flowering arch at the end of the lawn draws the eye through to more flower beds. At the end of the garden there is a large garage with rear access, and an adjoining workshop/hobby room with intercom system. This has been used as a craft workshop and could be again.
